TOUR 3.10 (IPv6) for HP-UX 11.11 and required PHNE_33313

Hi

I'm trying to install TOUR 3.10 on HP-UX 11.11 and have to issues.

1. TOUR requires PHNE_33313. This patch is defective and has been replaced by PHNE_34777... but the TOUR install REQUIRES EXPLICITLY PHNE_33313, not other newer patch. Therefore, I must install PHNE_33313 and later PHNE_34777, do I?

2. TOUR documentation contains this warning:

CRITICAL: Defect fixes for ARPA Transport and STREAMS are included in TOUR releases. Once TOUR is installed, it is CRITICAL that NO ARPA Transport or STREAMS patches are installed on the system. Otherwise, defect solutions and subsystem dependencies could be lost. Defect fixes and new functionality for ARPA Transport and STREAMS MUST ONLY BE APPLIED via future TOUR releases

But the PHNE_34777 (Cumulative STREAMS patch) has the following corequisite:

corequisites PHNE_33159.NET2-KRN,fa=HP-UX_B.11.11_32 | TOUR_PRODUCT.T-NET2-KRN,r>=A.02.06.01,fa=HP-UX_B.11.11_32

I find this very contradictory for me. May someone give a suggestion?

Do not install TOUR until a new version is release dthat does not depend on a defective patch.

2. These symptoms have been observed so far on systems running X.25, OTS, and ATM network stacks. However, it's possible for the problem to surface with other STREAMS/UX network stacks.

What happens when you install PHNE_34777 and then install TOUR ? Does the TOUR install fail ?

According the doc pointed by your link, after installing TOUR, the patch level for STREAMS is PHNE_33729. According to the same doc, no STREAMS patches can be installed after installing TOUR. If newer STREAMS patches must be installed, TOUR must be uninstalled.

P.D: I downloaded TOUR 3.10 from www.software.hp.com, but the REALLY downloaded depot shows TOUR 3.01!!!. Does anyone know why ?

Hi,

I am afraid this is a known problem in HP. For TOUR 3.0, HP had a patch to remedy this problem (not public, user required to contact HP to get it). They do not have a solution yet for TOUR 3.1. You may have to contact HP support to get this fixed.

Finally, I contacted remote HP contact center for this issue.

They tested this issue in their own test box. They suggested to install patch PHNE_33313 and TOUR 3.1. PHNE_34777 cannot be installed later.

They argued that the effective ARPA and STREAMS patches installed by TOUR are NOT defective.
