Hi,
I have setup a route on my server to go via a specific gateway. The route was added fine and when I do a netstat -r it is going via the LAN0 card as I expect.
If I however do a traceroute to the destination IP address it hangs and suggests it is attempting to connect via a different LAN card. If I however do a traceroute -i lan0 destinationip it routes succesfully.
I am concerned that this route is not working as I still cannot telnet to this server however I appreciate this could be other factors such as firewall rules.
I guess my point is why does the traceroute on its own not aknowledge the routing table and route via lan0 and is this a problem for me accessing this destination?
Cheers

Re: traceroute query
I'm not 2 happy to give out the specifics but see below.
the netstat -r shows
110.110.110.110 110.110.110.1 UGH 0 lan0 0
The route add command was
route add 110.110.110.110 110.110.110.1 1
Cheers

Adam,
have you had a look at the PHNE_35183 patch, problem code SR:8606356802 ?
"When executing traceroute(1) without the '-i' or '-s' command line options on a multi-homed host, the reply sent from the intermediate router/destination host in response to the probes are not being detected by the host."
