Tripwaire is a good tool. You can get the docs for Tripwire from URL site.

Linux provides tripwire and has the HOWTO with it as well.

Tripwire for HPUX has become a cost product. This is the product from tripwire.com

Re: Tripwire on HP-UX 11X requiremets & Installation procedure

Hi Guys,

I was told that Tripwire is available for free ,so that makes me wonder now.

Can you guys throw some light on it. I would like to know if it is available free only for LINUX and not for HP-UX 11x.Please advice me on this and if it is free, any website or resource from which I can get it from.

Your help is much appreciated.

Also thanks to Rick & Alessandro.

Thanks

It's only free for Linux.

We run it on HP as well (agents) and the servers are running on Solaris.

Re: Tripwire on HP-UX 11X requiremets & Installation procedure

Tripwire was an open source product.

It is still available on Linux that way, though the code base is old. It is possible to get that code, compile it and run tripwire after configuration. The reliability is questionable , though I have an old HP port meant for the education center that does appear to work well.

At my prior post we purchased Tripwire for under $1,000 and I installed it an configured it on three machines with html reports, bells and whistles in under a day's total time expended.

I don't have the procedure because that documentation didn't belong to me.

Tripwire is available in 2 "versions".
There is the commercial tripwire and an open source version, that has nothing to do with the commercial version.

Check http://sourceforge.net/projects/tripwire/ for details.

My 2 cents,

And now for something completely different...

There should be a HPUX product called IDS9000. Is the functionality the same as or similar to tripwire ?
