Trouble upgrading Checkpoint Firewall-1 Ver4.0 to Ver4.1 on HP-UX 10.20 server
Hi All
A few days ago, we upgraded our CP Firewall-1 ver4.0 to ver 4.1 on 10.20 server.
The installation went fine except for some minor glitches.
During the startup the firewall software gave an error as below .
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Forward_patch : offset too long.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then the firewall didn't start up.
I was told by the Firewall vendor that it is a
patch issue.
Has anybody encounter this error before.
Thanx for help.
Cheers,
Ramesh Dharma

Re: Trouble upgrading Checkpoint Firewall-1 Ver4.0 to Ver4.1 on HP-UX 10.20 server
Hi,
I had to look for this problem a bit, but found similar problem.
This problem was solved with the following:
SOLUTION:
- Edit the file /usr/conf/gen/linkorder and add two rows after the row
with "ipintr":
ipintr
ip_forward
ip_forwardfilter
- Make sure that 'ip_forward' and 'ip_forwardfilter' doesn't exist
anywhere else in the file.
- Generate a new kernel.

The computer is a great invention, there are as many mistakes as ever, but they are nobody's fault !
