trunking on HP
Because I'll have 45 Mbits of data /second on lan (without protocol), I would like to know if it's possible to have two lan cards viewed as one by the switch (easy to configurate on it).
And ... how to configurate if needed on HPUX ;-).
Thanks

Re: trunking on HP
Well, I dont know what's APA, sorry.
I only know that impossible to have 45bits/sec of data with 100Bits or GigaBits cards. Except, if it's possible to agregate two or three lan cards (TCP/IP and hpux V11i).
Networkmen said that's not a pbs for them to configurate it on switch, but what's should I configurate (driver or TCPIP) on HPUX to say to the system : "these two lancards received informations like one and should be see like one via the "ifconfig" command." Is it possible ?
Thanks for your help :-)

Re: trunking on HP
for ex. lan1 and lan2 which let say are 100 MBit FD and this will give you one whith 200 MBit. If one goes down do to card, cable or switch failur, the other will still work.
In reality you will not get 200MBit, because it is a loadballancing but nerly.
APA is as i remember a pay pr lisence application.

Jannik

Re: trunking on HP
However, it is _quite_ possible to get 45 Mbit/s on a 100BT interface, even more possible on a gigabit interface.
The _only_ place where one might not be able to get 45 Mbit/s out of a 100BT card in an HP 9000 would be if that was an HP-PB 100BT card, or if you had a really old HP 9000 without enough CPU horsepower.
In the case of the former, two 100BT interfaces on the same HP-PB bus will yield no improvement.
In the case of the latter, it is unlikely that trunking two links would make more CPU horsepower available.
Also, keep in mind that trunking will not allow a _single_ TCP connection to go any faster than it could on a single link. Trunking will allow an aggregate of TCP connections to go faster than they could on a single link.
