Trying to print file fr HP into Windows NT

Hi,

I have created a file that needs to be sent to the plotter attached to the Windows NT network. The driver for the plotter is not available on HP.

How do I go about to print?

Appreciate any help!

Hi

Can you ftp the file to the NT network and then pull it into a programme which will format it for the plotter.

Re: Trying to print file fr HP into Windows NT

solution is using remote printer

1. HP-UX:configure remote printer in sam
2. NT:enable remote printing service.

Thks. I'll try that.

But will it work with a dynamic addr assigned to the printer server? I know it's not a good practice but that is the current network setup.

Clarence-

The printers were setup on our system before I took over, but I know that they are included in the /etc/hosts list. The normal print command then accepts the file and sends it to the printer. I don't think that there were drivers installed for them, but I could be wrong. Maybe try just adding the ip address and see if that works.

Re: Trying to print file fr HP into Windows NT

Clarence, I think you will need a fixed IP address for the NT printer because you need to have the printer in your /etc/hosts file on your UNIX server.

I use two ways of setting up printers that are accessed by my NT, UNIX and Novell servers. They have ip addresses assigned to them. The first is using jetdirect cards, and the second is using Lantronix print servers. Both are easy to setup.
