tsm on HP-Ux 11.11

I tried to run tsm on my server and received the following error.
Cannot open ansi.fi

I get a similar error from a VT emmulator.

Are these files available? is TSM supported on 11i

Regards,
John.

Re: tsm on HP-Ux 11.11

It appears to be:

http://docs.hp.com/en/B9106-90007/tsm.info.1.html

Is it possible that the fileset is corrupted (swverify it)?

Re: tsm on HP-Ux 11.11

Hi,

This is unlikely. I have tried it on 2 different systems.

Re: tsm on HP-Ux 11.11

I know tsm works on 11.11. We use it extensively here.

I can't find an ansi.fi file on one the systems we use tsm on though.

Re: tsm on HP-Ux 11.11

Hi John,

change your TERM type and try,

# export TERM=vt100
# tsm

To check on all the term types supported by tsm, check the directory /usr/tsm/term.

Hope this helps.

Re: tsm on HP-Ux 11.11

Hi John,

If you do not want to change the global TERM variable, you can just specify / change the term variable TSMTERM. This is the terminal type that will be used by tsm. If no value is specified, it will use the terminal type TERM for the login id.

Do "man tsm" for more help.

Hope this helps.

Re: tsm on HP-Ux 11.11

I usually have the ansi.fi and vt100.fi on my servers but not the xterm.fi. So I copy the two .fi files related to vt100 to xterm name in the same directory and tsm works fine from that point on. Of course if you are running scripts dependent on terminal input on a certain (ansi in your case) terminal type, they may stop working. But for the regular command line usage, copying a similar fi set to my terminal type name worked for me wherever I tried.

Re: tsm on HP-Ux 11.11

Thanks everybody for your help so far. I have tried copping some of the similar files (ansi.sco.fi ansi.up2.fi ansi.up3.fi ansic.fi) to ansi.fi but I have not found a good match.

Regards,

John.
