tunable kernel parameter "ncsize" in HP-UX 11.23
Hi
I have to change some tunable kernel parameters of my HP-UX 11.23 PA-RISC box in compliance with Oracle 10g requirements and have doubts on "ncsize" parameter. The Oracle 10g requirements are:
ninode (8*nproc+2048)
ncsize (ninode+1024)
I guess ncsize refers only to HFS file systems and not needed to change its value because:
- my box has only ONE HFS (/stand).
- there is a straight dependency of "ninode" parameter.
- there is a similar tuanble for VxFS (vx_ncsize).
BUT, the manual pages for ncsize(5) says nothing about HFS.
I don't think to change the current value of neither "ninode" nor "ncsize".
Do you think so?

Re: tunable kernel parameter "ncsize" in HP-UX 11.23
Oscar,
Unless you are *extrememly* memory constrained, I'd go with the reccomendation anyway, although I wouldn't go much above 8192 for ncsize as it cna start to actually limit performance.
ncsize is used for all FS types

Scrub that... I'm wrong - VxFS does its own thing entirely on 11.23 regardless of ncsize or vx_ncsize.
