I have an HFS filesystem (/home) which has almost 20% free disk space (around 100MB). But I get inode error in the syslog.
When I did bdf -i /home; I can see there is no inode left.
What are the options I have to increase the inode with tunefs or is there any workaround for this.

Re: tunefs question
Number of inodes is set at file creation time with the -i option of newfs (see man newfs_hfs). The only way to change this will be to create a new file system. If you have the room you can create a new file system, copy the contents of /home into it, switch the mount points in /etc/fstab, and reboot. If you don't have the extra space available, you'll have to deal with /home itself: unmount it, newfs it, remount it, etc.
At the same time, I would encourage you to consider making it a VxFS, or Journalled, file system. Then you won't have to worry about inodes.

Re: tunefs question
As a temporary solution I extended the filesystem by adding 200MB and I got around 25% more inodes free.
Permanent solution is to follow Pete's suggestion.
