Turning Secure off

Hi,

Can anybody tell me how to turn mode secure off without unplugging the hardisks and lan connection. I am unable to go to the config menu during boot up.

We have a C-class and its still under warranty, and those AMC freaks will throw up a fit if I break the warranty seals, and they cannot come for another three days. This is an absolute emergency and I need to boot from a CD. I already tried changing the primary boot device, but am unable to scan for hardware since mode secure has been turned on.

thanx,

joey

Re: Turning Secure off

Hi ,

i have the solution for you........

01. Boot the workstation normaly (Connect the CD Drive also).
02. ioscan -fnC disk
03. it will give you an out put like ,

disk 2 8/16/5.2.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE TOSHIBA CD-ROM X
M-6201TA
/dev/dsk/c1t2d0 /dev/rdsk/c1t2d0

04. i take the above as a reference,
05. setboot -p 8/16/5.2.0 -b on
06. reboot -r
07. The Primary boot path has been changed to CD Drive.
08. After you boot from a CD , finish the work , you can just remove the CD and restart the machine. it will not be able to boot from CD and will come to IPL Screen. so you change the path to the HardDIsk

Best of luck
