UAR (unix appletalk router) on 11i
I am unable to figure out how to get the CAP UAR to run on 11i. I have an ATM setup as
lan emulation mode (el100) and
an internal 10baseT on a D380
which is lan0.
The trick to make appletalk services work over ethertalk on 10.20 was to make sure the /dev/lan0, major number 52 existed and do ifconfig lan0 up, but don't give it any routing information. This fooled UAR into starting.
On 11i, I had to remove the /dev/lan0 that was automatically created with major #45 (LLA is gone and DLPI took it's place, which I fear I don't understand.) I create /dev/lan0 with major
number 52.
(UAR has not been updated since 10/1993 by the author, but is critical for using CAP--Columbia Appletalk Package in our enviroment.) Netatalk will not support the features we need.
1. Does anyone use and have UAR running on 11i?
2. Has someone found a product besides CAP and Netatalk that works on 11i?
Getting really desparate...
