UK keyboard....key mapping issue ??

I have a question.
Its regarding the use of a UK keyboard with our ignite for a B2000 machine.

I only have UK keyboards.

I have been told that if you change the keyboard type by using "/etc/kbdlang" to US everything will work ok.

Will there be any key mapping issue that we could experience.

The earlier ignite has an entry like this in /etc/kbdlang

USB_PS2_DIN_US_English

Thanks,
Aravind

first renamt the file and change the Lang in /etc/rc.config.d/LANG.

Yes you can just change your /etc/kbdlang to reflect the keyboard type. Reboot the system afterwards.

Re: UK keyboard....key mapping issue ??

For my confirmation:

1. Do i need to touch only /etc/kbdlang
or
both /etc/kbdlang and /etc/rc.config.d/LANG also ?

2. How the new /etc/kbdlang looks like after i edit the file ?

like this ?
USB_PS2_DIN_UK_English

FYI,
i have a UK key board with a US ignite

Thanks
Aravind

Re: UK keyboard....key mapping issue ??

1) Only change /etc/kbdlang since you're not messing with the locale.
2) Yes, though I think there is another option that looks like this ..
USB_PS2_DIN_UK_English_Euro
You'll be ok if you stick to USB_PS2_DIN_UK_English
To confirm this run ..
# itemap -iL
===> That will list your keyboard language for you to select. Just enter CTRL-C if you do not want to make any selection yet.
