Hi Guys,
Can anyone advice, I have a L2000 server (old) is connected to a Ultrium 460 with Ultra 2 scsi card . I try to use sam to backup a 14GB size data and it takes 6min to backup. I bought a new server rp4440 connected to Ultrium 960 with Ultra 3 scsi card. I try backing up the same 14GB data with sam but it toke 12mins . Why is the backup slower than the Ultrium 460??? Pls advice??

Re: Ultrium 960 backup slower than Ultrium 460
Shalom Vincent,
Well, there are a number of possible causes.
1) System patching and firmware. It can impact speed.
2) SCSI Id conflict.
3) Other devices on the same scsi chain as the tape drive. The tape drive should be alone with no other devices.
4)Network speed if its done through the NIC. ie lanadmin speeds, switch port setttings, network congestion.
5)Fiber Channel card settings if the backup is through fiber.
6)Perhaps the second backup is being done through network and not fiber.
Without a lot more data I can't be more precise, but these are areas to look at.
