umask

I created a user and in its profile i inserted umask 002.
this means that this user should create file with these permissions rwxrwxr-x. Why does the user create file with rw-rw-r--.

Thanks

Federico

Re: umask

x permission is never set when creating a FILE
you have to chmod manually for the x permission
when creating DIRECTORY x permission is set

hi fedrico,

umask 002 , for directories you take away 777
and for files you take away 666 from the umask so 664 permissions on a file is correct .
Seek and you shall find
