#ioscan -funCtape
see the result that the drive should come in CLAIMED status.
#insf -e
if problem comes then post #ioscan -fun and #dmesg #cat /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log output.

Is the cable used Ok?

is there any dip switch on the drive? some model need to change the setting for difference OS.

try to change the scsi port.
I think you have attach the dat to the controller scsi of the internal disk.
You should have two port A and B in the rear of the server i A is not working try with the port B, maybe a problem with the internal termination.
If you have a PCI scsi connect the dat at this port.
