Unable to alt path for SAN disk

I have problem in seeing EMC disk from my HP-UX 11iv1 server from secondary path. I have 2 HBAs. From one HBA, I can see the path. From the other HBA, I can't. I did ioscan and insf but it does not help. SAN admin says that the disk is masked to both HBAs on the server.
Is there any way to find out why I am not seeing second disk. We use powerpath. So powerpath sees only one path and not the other.

Thank you all.

Re: Unable to alt path for SAN disk

With EMC and Powerpath the ioscan report is not enough to get the alt paths to the disks. You need to look at the outputs of inq and powermt in order to infer the alt paths which you can then vgextend into your existing VGs or post them here and some forum gurus may be able to help.

# inq
# powermt display dev=all

Re: Unable to alt path for SAN disk

I have given below the output of powermt display dev=all, please note that the powermt config and powermt save have been performed.

I have showed 2 devices, one good which shows both paths, one bad device in question which shows only one path.

Symmetrix ID=000188120612
Logical device ID=10C9
state=alive; policy=SymmOpt; priority=0; queued-IOs=0
==============================================================================
---------------- Host --------------- - Stor - -- I/O Path - -- Stats ---
### HW Path I/O Paths Interf. Mode State Q-IOs Errors
==============================================================================
19 1/0/2/1/0/4/0.97.61.19.5.10.0 c19t10d0 FA 8aA active alive 0 0
35 1/0/4/1/0/4/0.97.61.19.7.1.5 c35t1d5 FA 9aA active alive 0 0

Symmetrix ID=000188120612
Logical device ID=10DA
state=alive; policy=SymmOpt; priority=0; queued-IOs=0
==============================================================================
---------------- Host --------------- - Stor - -- I/O Path - -- Stats ---
### HW Path I/O Paths Interf. Mode State Q-IOs Errors
==============================================================================
19 1/0/2/1/0/4/0.97.61.19.5.8.1 c19t8d1 FA 8aA active alive 0 0

Please note that the syminq output shows 2 devices for the good one and only one device for the bad one.

My question is, why is the second path not showing up even after ioscan and insf have been run.

Thank you
Rajose.

Re: Unable to alt path for SAN disk

Can you put here the syminq and "sympd list" outputs and tell me the primary path of the disk in question?

Re: Unable to alt path for SAN disk

There could be a lot of things that might be causing the disk not to show up. Does the ioscan show connectivity all the way to the RAID controller on the storage array. If possible post the output of "ioscan -funC fcp" here.
