Re: Unable to boot through ignite tape

Are you able to see the tape drive when you do SEA.

Thanks

Re: Unable to boot through ignite tape

Shalom,

Sounds like either a hardware problem, bad media(tape), or scsi configuration. If this is a Ultrium drive that you are moving around from system to system, the SCSI ID must be compatible for this to work.

It appears from the messaging the tape is detected, so I suspect the issue is a bad tape or incomplete, build something like that.

The hardware is different, but if that were the cause of failure I think the process would get further along before halting.

Give some details from the tape booting screen. What you showed us is the prior console output, the live console output is empty. Most likely what SEP said is happening.

Re: Unable to boot through ignite tape

Hi,

Can you try listing tape contents on same server where you created it...this will verify tape and any issue with contents as well.

Also as TTr said, please try to provide complete details here..

Re: Unable to boot through ignite tape

Hi Sep,
as u told its detecting. But this is the third new (ignite image)tape am trying to boot, but same result.I am sure the image is fine.
Hello TTr,system hangs at that point and does not move ahead.Hence the live console output is empty.
HellO Deepak, am not sure how to view the contents of a tape since its a sequential access media,i can't even mount it.
pls help me

Re: Unable to boot through ignite tape

I am not suprised that attempting to clone from an N-4000 to an rp3440 would hang.

This is the area where if you get it to work you are lucky as the HW may just be too different.

Does the N-4000 have all the latest enablement patches ?

Another item to just see if there is some other issue, cold install the last 11.11 release( assuming this is the rev u are using ) on the rp3440 to see if the results are the same.

Re: Unable to boot through ignite tape

Might the N4000 be running HP-UX 11.00? It can not be installed on the rp3440.

Re: Unable to boot through ignite tape

No. Both the N-Class and rp3440 are in same os level.(hpux 11.11).

I've reinstalled the OS successfully.
