Unable to find duplex mode info on HP-UX 10.20

Hi,

I have a D350 model server running HP-UX 10.20. I am unable to get the duplex mode info on this server.

Tried with the following commands

lanadmin -s NMID

The speed of the NIC card is 10mbps

lanadmin -x 0 just exits without any output.

Can anyone suggest me how to get this info.

Thanks & Regards
Rajesh

If nothing outputs then this is 10HD. It soulds as though you are using the built-in port and that is definitely 10HD.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

I concur with Clay,

Although..

I have a K380 with both the 10half and 10/100Full cards installed. Never know what you are going to get with old hardware. Most cards shipped at that time were 10HD.

And both respond to the lanadmin -x

lanadmin -x 4
Current Speed = 10 Half-Duplex
lanadmin -x 5
Current Speed = 100 Full-Duplex

Re: Unable to find duplex mode info on HP-UX 10.20

A D Class servers had a 10 Mbit/s HD-only core interface. There was no such thing as FD for 10MBit/s when that interface (based on the Intel 82596) and driver (the "lan2" driver) (which goes all the way back to the first PA-RISC workstations) There was an add-on EISA formfactor HSC dual-port 10/100 which could do FD on 100Mbit/s at least.

99 times out of 10, lan0 would be the "core" interface, although there were situations on at least some servers where lan0 could be an add-on (the A180C comes to mind, where if you reinstalled with an add-on card, the PCI bus was walked first and so an add-on card would be lan0)

Hi,

with 10.20 you should be able to use 'lanscan' and 'landiag' to get your informations.

Re: Unable to find duplex mode info on HP-UX 10.20

As noted by Rick, the built in on D series servers are 10HD. No other choices or options.

Re: Unable to find duplex mode info on HP-UX 10.20

You can see the "built-in" in your output - so it is pretty clear what you have ...

At this time 10Mb/s was usual, 100Mb/s was very special ... 100Mb/s VG/anyLAN was very, very special ...

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Unable to find duplex mode info on HP-UX 10.20

The "key" is that it is driven by the "lan2" driver - anything driven by the "lan2" driver is a 10Mbit/s HD only interface using, or based on the cells of an Intel 82596.

(And remember that in the old days, while their names were similar, there was no correlation between an interface's name and the name of the driver driving it - you could have a "lan0" interface being driven by the "lan2" driver etc etc...)

Rajesh

if i recalled correctly, D class 100 BT lan is usin EISA card.

Remember 100BT Eisa cards only support Half Duplex (no FD and auto-negotiation) !!

hope this help

There was also an ESIA formfactor HSC card. Much prefered over the EISA card.
