Unable to get fill filenames on DVD
# mount -F cdfs -o cdcase /dev/dsk/c3t3d0 /dvd
The cmd succeded and I can see files under /dvd
but the filenames are ok upto 8 characters and then they are truncated. I know that the filenames on this DVD are over 8 characters (from the person who sent dvd). Is there any way to get these complete filenames instead of just 8 chars.?
Thank you all

Re: Unable to get fill filenames on DVD
You have not mounted it correctly.
/usr/sbin/mount -F cdfs -e -o ro,rr /dev/dsk/c3t2d0 /cdrom
Try the above but it would be helpful to know the format.

Re: Unable to get fill filenames on DVD
Tried above cmd, it mounted successfully,
but all filenames are in capital and have ;
(semicolon) in their names. Again it took
only first 8 characters and not the complete filenames that exist on the DVD.

Re: Unable to get fill filenames on DVD
is the disk self-burned?
Hope this helps!

Re: Unable to get fill filenames on DVD
These are not the current patches. You need PHKL_34153 and PHKL_26269.
> mount -F cdfs -o cdcase ...
-o cdcase has been deprecated for a long time. The above two patches enable the RockRidge option (-o rr). Note that if the author of the CD used Joliet (a PC-only format), the CD must be recreated in the portable RockRidge format.

Re: Unable to get fill filenames on DVD
Use these commands:
HP-UX
nohup pfs_mountd &
nohup pfsd &
pfs_mount /dev/dsk/c0t2d0 /dvdrom
or
pfs_mount -o xlat=UNIX /dev/dsk/c0t2d0 /dvdrom

Re: Unable to get fill filenames on DVD
I am not sure whether PHKL_34153 which is superseded of PHKL_28025 (which we have), can solve this issue.

Re: Unable to get fill filenames on DVD
The ALL UPPERCASE 8.3 filenames with a ;1 after the name is called the ISO 9660 format and is present on all data CDs. The two patches will enable the -o rr option. Make sure the patches are actually installed:
swlist -l patch -a state PHKL_26269 PHCO_25841
This must say: configured
Since this is a DVD and not a CD, there are many incompatible formats that a PC can create. Go back to the originator and make sure the CD or DVD is recorded in POSIX (aka, Rock Ridge) format for use in exchanging data among different types of systems.

Re: Unable to get fill filenames on DVD
% > swlist -a state -l patch PHKL_26269 PHCO_25841
# Initializing...
# Contacting target "host"...

# Target: host:/
#
# PHCO_25841
# PHCO_25841.CORE-ENG-A-MAN configured
# PHCO_25841.UX-CORE configured
# PHKL_26269
# PHKL_26269.C-INC configured
# PHKL_26269.CORE-KRN configured
Even then it does not work.
When I put this dvd in a laptop attached to dvd drive, my windows-2000 lists the file as
analyze_estimate.plt
When I insert this dvd on my hp-ux server, mount the drive and and read it, the filename
comes out like this -
analyze_.plt
So you can see the filenames are getting truncated.
I think the problem could be with the way the dvd is burnt ( i mean the format). I am going to hahve it re-burnt in posix format and re-deliver.
Thank you all for your replies. I am going to close this thread after assigning points.
Thanks to all again.
