unable to login HPUX 11.23 OS through MP Console on HP rp8640 server

Hi

    I am unable to login to hpux 11.23 os through MP console. It occured after upgradation of "IPFILTER 17 ver".

I can access my server through Telnet/SSH/FTP . In this server HP 8640 Box  there are two hp ux 11.23 os are runing .

from my console i can login in to another server . But I am unable to login on server I have upgraded "IPFilter 17"

Can you access the server directly by telnet/ssh? Maybe another process is blocking the console so you cannot get a prompt? Check with "ps" and grep for "console".

First I uld try to press CTRL l (L) to refresh the screen. Maybe you are still in the swinstall - view log window?

i can ftp /telnet / ssh this server by os ip. i have checked the console process also . I have kill the console process also . even after that i am unable to login from mp.

but I am able to login other server from same mp console

What exactly happens when you try to log in via the console?  What error do you receive?

Are you sure your password is correct?

Are there any special characters, especially @ or # in the password?  If so, that may be causing your problem.

yes password is correct . I have tried so many times . I have tried to login with oter user. But I am able to login through telnet / ssh with same username & password.

Do you mean to say that you can login to Partition 0 (eaip2) without problem?   This issue is there only when accessing this partition console via the MP?  That would exclude the MP and the terminal settings from being the issue (though you could try resetting the MP hardware (XD command from MP:CM).

Do both have the same passwords?

Can you connect to the other and login there?

If you can telnet there, what does lastb(1) show about the failed login attempts?

Thanks issue resolved , I don't know how default login changed from vpar1 to vpar2.  there was two vpars in second npar .Initially default login was set to  vpar2 . But after rebooting  , I got the login prompt of vpar1.

so I was unable to login in to server.

You did not tell vPars is running here.

You cannot set such "default" login, the virtual consoles toggle around beginning with the first vPar, then the second, ..., then the first again using CTRL a.
