Re: Unable to restore a ignite tape image on a rx2660

you should see it when running

shell> devices

then you need to create a boot entry for the tape.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Unable to restore a ignite tape image on a rx2660

BTW, the boot from tape is even slower than the two-step recovery procedure ...

Hope this helps!

Re: Unable to restore a ignite tape image on a rx2660

On our system there is a simple scsi HBA installed, the tape is shown in devices like this:

6F D X X 1 1 - SCSI Tape Device

Where did you connect the tape? What kind of HBA?

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Unable to restore a ignite tape image on a rx2660

Can you still boot hp-ux?

Get the device file of the controller and use mptconfig.

Re: Unable to restore a ignite tape image on a rx2660

This means no tape drive.

But your previous ioscan did show it. Does ioscan still show it?

Is it powered? Terminator connected?

Check carefully for bent pins!

This may produce very strange behavior.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Unable to restore a ignite tape image on a rx2660

You can use the tape from hp-ux?

You should see the device from mptconfig too.

With bent pins (68 pin cable) I have already seen very strange things, e.g. visible from EFI, but not from hp-ux and vice versa. Did you check the cable?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Unable to restore a ignite tape image on a rx2660

I have the tape drive connected to the Channel A and there is a SCSI terminator on the tape drive. Channel B is not being used.

Re: Unable to restore a ignite tape image on a rx2660

I wonder what kind of scsi card you have.

Usually all the tools will report the product number. But your card doesn't. An unsupported card? This would perhaps explain why you cannot see it in EFI.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Unable to restore a ignite tape image on a rx2660

Can you say the product number of your scsi card?

I see an original emulex fc card (obviously not hp branded), so I wonder if the scsi card is hp branded?

Hope this helps!
