Unable to view serial data from DTC 16RX
Hello-
Summary:
From an HPUX dtterm, why canâ t I â catâ an OCD created pseudonym and see the serial (ASCII) data coming from a piece of lab equipment connected to a HP 9000 L2000 box via a DTC 16RX termserver?
Detail:
I have a 16RX DTC with some medical lab equipment connected to the serial ports. Getting the RS232 wiring straightened out was chore in itself, but it appears to be working now. The serial data originating from the medical equipment is sent via RS232 to the DTC, which then transmits the data to a HP 9000 L2000 box via LAN. The OCD infrastructure is up and running on the HP box, but the serial data is not visible via access to the pty or the pseudonym. I started an ocdebug process for this particular DTC port/service, and can see the data in the /var/adm/ocdxxxx trace file (â Data dump:â line), so it is my understanding the data is arriving on the HP box correctly.
It was my impression that I should be able to issue a â cat /dev/telnet/ and see the data as it comes in from the medical equipment (which is in a perpetual test loop for testing purposes) on the terminal, but I canâ t. I am wondering why not, as this was the method I planned on using to prove connectivity was established.
Iâ m currently investigating tusc as a way to get at the data and present my proof of concept, but was hoping for an easier way. . .
Thanks mu

If you just wish to see the data then I think that connecting you rs232 lead from your equipment to a dumb terminal may do it, (but dont quote me).
