Unexpected exit memory fault when using Sam to modify password of user

I am getting following message when trying to modify a user's password using sam.I am able to add users but when modifying the user password is when I get it.Initially the system is generating a user number.

UNEXPECTED EXIT: process LANG=C LC_ALL=C /usr/sam/lbin/samx -C -p 1905 -s users /usr/sam/lib//ug.ui exited with a non-zero exit status. sh: 2042 Memory fault
Change password in way single user, beginning in multiuser way console

Some possible tries:

1) Install latest SAM patches (including SAM cumulative patch)

2) Run 'swconfig \*'

3) Check SAM filesets and patch status. Reinstall or reconfigure if necessary.

Hi Jose,

Possibility exists of a corrupted /etc/passwd file - run

pwck

and note any errors that would reqire you to edit the file with vipw

Oh & I should add if you're running in trusted mode, the commands would be either

pwck -s

or

authck -pv

Re: Unexpected exit memory fault when using Sam to modify password of user

I have had this problem. It was solved by the latest sam patch.

The other checks are good idea, but get the patch.

http://itrc.hp.com
individual patches
hpux
search by sam, get the latest one.

download it.

swinstall -s /tmp/path_of_depot \*
