SolutionYes, you can use HP's version of Samba - called CIFS/9000.
Best thing is it's free.
Here's a couple links for it:
http://www.software.hp.com/cgi-bin/swdepot_parser.cgi/cgi/displayProducts.pl?group_type=search&group_name=CIFS%2F9000&search_free=1&search_trial=1&search_buy=1
https://payment.ecommerce.hp.com/cgi-bin/swdepot_parser.cgi/cgi/try.pl?productNumber=J2715BA&date=
This SW will allow the HP system to export a filesystem which XP can then mount. You'll run CIFS server on the HP & CIFS client on the XP.
HTH,
Jeff

Re: UNIX to NT
That's great! I preferred to have a free SW.
I clicked on the first link you've provided in your reply. and it resulted a list of 5 products. I have choosen cifs/9000 server 2.2c and read about the overview and the installation.
Please clarrify if everything will be installed in the UNIX side. I never seen any write-up installing a client SW on the MICROSOFT end.
thanks and regards...

Re: UNIX to NT
The nice thing about CIFS is that you don't need anything on the client side if it's windows. You map the HP FS's just as you'd map a share from another win box.
Also I looked & the CIFS server SW is also on the Application #4 CD in my Dec 2002 11.0 CD set. Again it's free - no codeword needed.

Jeff

Re: UNIX to NT
As mentioned, Samba is basically a porting of Windows smb protocol. I highly recommend using HP's CIFS. I've had real issues installing the HP-UX version from samba's web-site.
The beauty of samba is you can use it with many different UNIX and linux flavors. It also contains print services and can be run via a web browser for graphical management. Very scalable for present and future needs.
I think you'll be pleased! :)

Kel
