Unlocking root account
Hi,
My root account is locked. I can log in from console, the systems prompts me to enter old password but does not accept it (I re-enter the same one that let me in). Can I fix it without rebooting? Output is enclosed.
-------------------
Console Login: root
Password:
Account is disabled but console login is allowed.
Last successful login for root: Wed Mar 14 10:25:17 EET-2EETDST 2007 on console
Last unsuccessful login for root: Mon May 14 09:55:40 EET-2EETDST 2007
Your password has expired.
Changing password for root
Old password:
Sorry.
Login aborted due to no new password.
--------------------------
Thanks and points in advance!
BR,
Mihails

How long are your passwords? If you password is more than 8 characters before you trust the system, try entering only the first 8 characters of the password after you trust the system.
