Unmounting a cd during 11i upgrade
I feel really dumb here, like I'm missing something simple...
I am doing the 11.00 to 11i upgrade, and everything was great until it prompted for the second cd. I can't unmount the first one though because its in use.
fuser -cu /cdrom returns nothing, and I can't do any ps commands because I get some errors about "not enough memory for hash table" (which is not suprising since I'm in the middle of an install.
Am I not doing something right here?

Re: Unmounting a cd during 11i upgrade
You may need to start over.
I'm guessing you started the upgrade as follows:
1) cd /cdrom # or whatever the cdrom folder name the cd-rom was mounted on
2) update-ux #whatever the command is.
Because you have started the upgrade in the folder, you can't umount.
The device is busy because the process that started the upgrade is in the cd-rom
So when you start over:
cd /
/cdrom/update-ux
Then when the upgrade process prompts for a cd change there won't be any processes in the folder /cdrom and you can actually umount. As a matter of memory(could be wrong), the update process should handle the umount itself.
Either way, this is the most common cause of the issue you report.
