update ux question

Hello, i was trying to upgrade a box. It currently shows that it has Foundation OE
# swlist|grep OE
HPUX11i-OE B.11.11.0206 HP-UX 11i Operating Environment Component

If so ..when i use update-ux ...do i need to specify /usr/sbin/update-ux -s /dvdrom HPUX11i-OE-Ent

I just thought for foundation upgrade no need to specify HPUXll1-OE-Ent , just the HPUX-11i-OE enough i thought,
Am i correct. please advice

Re: update ux question

Shalom,

1) Cold install is much more reliable. Consider that as an alternative.
2) If you must use upgrade-ux then you should use a version of the OS that is the same level or higher than what is installed. Using foundation on an Enterprise installation will likely lead to features not working properly.
3)upgrade-ux is supposed to be smart enough to figure out what is installed and upgrade it. That is actually true though it is still likely to have trouble upgrading any installation.

Re: update ux question

If you are trying to upgrade your OE from Foundation to Enterprise then you use the command:
update-ux -y -s /cdrom HPUX11i-OE-Ent

Where you replace /cdrom with your mount point.
This then adds in the Enterprise OE bits that are not installed with the FOE.
