Updating Ignite

I know this is a dumb question, but since the Ignite update didn't come as part of the regular patch, what's the easiest way to install a matching version?

Re: Updating Ignite

Hi Scott:

Ignite updates can be tracked at the Ignite web site. I'm not sure what you mean by "matching version". Ignite updates appear "periodically" and currently support multiple releases (11.0, 11.11, 11.23 & 11.31). You can fetch the latest version here:

http://www.docs.hp.com/en/IUX/

Re: Updating Ignite

Shalom,

1) Back up any custom configuration files
2) swremove old version
3) swinstall new version.

Unlike say CIFS, the old version of of Ignite is not updated by the installation of a new version. Removal is necessary.

Ignite has never been (as far asI know) released as a patch, I don't understand why there was any expectation it would be done like that.

Re: Updating Ignite

I downloaded the depot file at:

http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=IGNITEUXB

and put it in a directory.

When I type:

$swinstall -f ./Ignite-UX-11-11_C.7.2.94_HP-UX_B.11.00_32+64.depot

I get: ERROR: Could not read input file
"./Ignite-UX-11-11_C.7.2.94_HP-UX_B.11.00_32+64.depot".
ERROR: Command line parsing failed.
[ohio_root]$swinstall
\NOTE: The interactive UI was invoked, since no software was
specified.

If I go into swinstall, and put in the directory name, it says there are no depot files there.

I did read that there was a pax dependency, so I ran a patch asessment on the machine, and did a complete set of patches before trying to install this depot.

Re: Updating Ignite

You need to use the FULL path!
e.g.:

swinstall -s /tmp/my_depot.depot

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Updating Ignite

Used the full path, and the ignite update you provided a link to installed, however I'm still getting:

ERROR: Fileset: "Ignite-UX.BOOT-KERNEL-IA" (rev=B.4.3.91) is a different version than the rest of Ignite-UX (rev=C.7.2.94). You must
update all filesets of the product to the same version for proper behavior.
ERROR: All filesets in the Ignite-UX product must be the same revision.
Please update any old Ignite-UX filesets.

Re: Updating Ignite

Problem was resolved, thanks for everyone's help.

I ran swremove, removed the older version of Ignite, and then ran the make tape recovery, and it worked like a charm.

Again, thanks for everyone's help.
