Hi I have a HP-UX 11 ignite backup server which backs up all my 11 servers to its disks via a network (make_net_recovery).
I would also like to backup a couple of my 10.20 servers but am a little concerned when the server uses /opt/igntie/lbin/pkg_rec_depot so that it can recover the machine over the network.
Will the 11 server and the 10.20 client be compatible?
Can i use the 11 server to backup the 10.20 clients and will it restore if needed without changing the configuration of the s/w on the 10.20 machines?
Im pretty confident all this will work, just thought i'd ask in case of any gotcha's.
cheers,
mark.

Re: updating the s/w from the ignite server on different revisions of HP-UX
Will the 11 server and the 10.20 client be compatible?
This depends on the version of ignite you have installed. If you go to http://software.hp.com/products/IUX
you can see the supported client versions for each ignite version:
http://software.hp.com/products/IUX/download.html
Later,
Bill

It works for me (tm)

Re: updating the s/w from the ignite server on different revisions of HP-UX
all my systems have the following:
B5725AA B.3.5.62 HP-UX Installation Utilities (Ignite-UX)
Meaning I cant without installing an updated version of ignite!
Thanks for all your help!
I will d/load and install a later version.
Any recommended versions?
I only use Ignite servers to backup about 10 UX boxes 2 of which run 10.20, the rest 11.00 i dont use this product to build new systems and load automatically.
Should I be going for B.4.1?
