Updating to HP-UX 11i v1
Hi
I am updating a workstation B180L from HPUX 10.20 to HPUX 11i v1. The software I have is in a cd format and is hp-ux 11i version 1 December 2004. The installation guide (pg 98)has a caution about updating HP-UX 10.20 systems to the HPUX 11i v1 December 2004 OE, as the update-ux command will fail. Which I have experienced. The failure is due to HPUX 10.20 does not support Rockridge extension.
To resove this, first I must update to the desired HP-UX 11iv1 December 2003 OE, which I have as well. And then update to December 2004.
My question is....
1. Do I follow the complete updating procedure for the December 2003 version and then follow the update for the 2004 version? or do I only update a part from december 2003?
Thanks in advance.
Brett

Re: Updating to HP-UX 11i v1
Hi
Why not do 100% fresh/cold install of 11.11. This will save you time.
1 - take Ignite Image of old 10.20 system
2 - If you have mirrored root disk only install on one half
3 - In the event of failure either use the 10.20 disk (fast) or the ignite image
Regards
Tim
