Upgrade EMC powerpath from 4.3 to 4.5

Before upgrade EMC powerpath from 4.3 to 4.5 on HP-UX 11, do I need to stop applications on the system? In Solaris, I have to bring down the system to single user mode before I can upgrade powerpath.

Hi,

Usually the EMC software comes with a manual and/or "readme" instructions.

I have not installed this version but past version needed to be installed in single user mode...

Successfully upgraded EMC Powerpath from 4.3 to 4.5 on HP-UX 11.00 with following steps:

1. Stop applications on system
2. Backup existing powermpath config
# powermt save
3. Install poweerpath 4.5
# swinstall –x autoreboot=true –x mount_all_filesystems=falase –s /var/tmp/EMCpower.HP.4.5.0.tar EMCpower
4. system started with Powerpath 4.5

There is no need to bring down the system to single user mode.
