Upgrade from 10.20 to 11i
I need to upgrade one HP D380 HP-UX 10.20 system to 11i. I am running HP Openview NNM 6.1 on that system. The system has two 180 MHz RISC processors, 1.5 GB RAM and 12GB unused disk space. I have received a set of 11i CDs from HP just a few days ago so I have the current software.
Are the system resources adequate for 11i ? If the answer is yes then which is the best way to do the upgrade without having to reinstall NNM ?
Thanks,
Subhas

Re: Upgrade from 10.20 to 11i
See if you can do a cold install. Nevel liked upgrade from 10.20 to 11/11i. Why carry extra baggage when it can be avoided.
D380 Supports both 32/64 Bit 11i.
Here is a thread for your help.

hope this helps.

Re: Upgrade from 10.20 to 11i
Go with the cold install, upgrades are quite painfull. I've noticed that a swlist on upgraded boxes show 10.20 software in the list sometimes, it just has problems you may want to avoid. You may need to check firmware levels of the D class machine to make sure it can run 64 bit before you try the upgrade. It can handle it if the right firmware level is applied.

Re: Upgrade from 10.20 to 11i
There has been quite a number of posts in regards
to upgrading 10.20 to 11.x In fact I have only
come across a couple of people who have been
able to do this successfully over the past year.
Each instance has been on a server that very
simple in it's original setup and not much had
actually changed since it's original build(s)
Where I am we have tried around 20 times to an
upgrade on various 'D' and 'K' class servers
all with no success. My advice is do a cold
install where possible and import your volume
groups that are not part of vg00.

Re: Upgrade from 10.20 to 11i
Cold install of 11i is the only feasible
choice. Remember, the O/S install is the
key, applications follow later. Regarding
NNM, you can back it up and restore back.
Also, make a copy of any NNM related configuration files in VG00 and restore it
after the 11i install.
