Upgrade from 11.11 to 11.22

Hi,

I need to know the process for upgrading existing os 11.11v1 to 11.22.
1) Can I upgrade from existing OS seamlessly to 11.22
or
2) I have to install from scratch?

The version 11.22 (aka HP-UX 11i v1.6) was the initial version for Itanium2 systems and is already unsupported.
In fact, 11.11 (11i v1) and 11.23 (11i v2) are the supported versions at this time:

But it is possible to upgrade from 11.11 to 11.23 - you have to read the release notes carefully and decide, because you have to upgrade your applications too, probably.
Sometimes it is easier to do a cold install.

11.11 -> 11.22 is impossible without changing the hardware, because 11.11 exists for PA-RISC processors only and 11.22 exists for Itanium hardware only.

Perhaps you meant 11.11 -> 11.23?

Can't do that.

11.11 is PA-RISC only
11.22 is Itanium only

Won't work.

You can install 11.23, and after updating firmware I recommend cold install over upgrade-ux. upgrade-ux simply does not work very well.

You cannot upgrade hp-ux 11.11 to 11.22 (HP-UX 11.22 -->HP-UX 11i version 1.6 or HP-UX 11i v1.6).11.22 supports only ITANIUM servers.

Vinod, it would help if you would list the specific model(s) of hardware you care about. Quite a few models that ran 11.11 will not run 11.23. As previously noted, 11.22 was IPF only and is no longer supported. Versions of 11.23 newer than September 2004 may run on PA-RISC hardware, subject to various restrictions on supported CPU models, I/O cards, etc.
