Re: Upgrade of OS from 11:00 to 11:11
1) The applications (3rd party). The more complex that is, the higher the failure risk. Oracle needs to be relinked. You'd be surprised how much sotftware is still not certified and will required you to upgrade or cold install after the OS upgrade. This creates pressure, which is not there if you cold install on new hardware and gradually migrate apps and data to 11i.
2) Problems with the 11.00 environment may be migrated into the 11i 11.11 environment. I'm with Harry on this one, as are many admins.

Re: Upgrade of OS from 11:00 to 11:11
Apologised for the info ask, actually I have already successfully upgraded the OS from verion 11:00 to version 11:11, and what my company want know is a documentation on what was being done during the upgrade, as in something like example, how we know that the OS was upgraded to 11:11, what to check ? How can we tell that the patches are configure and etc. Has anyone do this kind of a documentation before, is there a sample that I can use to follow. Please help and advice ???

Re: Upgrade of OS from 11:00 to 11:11
swlist will show everything that is installed. You can also add the '-l product' or '-l bundle' to see other view of what is installed.
If you just want patches 'swlist -l product | grep PH'.
'uname -a' will show the release you are running.

Re: Upgrade of OS from 11:00 to 11:11
After 11i upgraded
"uname -a" must return like;
HP-UX $hostname B.11.11 U $model $number unlimited-user license
if you upgrated 11.00 to 11i sucessfully.
if you upgrated 11.00 to 11i v1
then it means;
B.11.11
if you see B.11.22
it means you are 11i V1.6
and if you see like
B.11.23
then you are again 11i but version is v2
Good luck,
