upgrade on a cluster

we are doing some upgrades on a cluster (disks and tape drives). The cluster uses service guard. Following the tape drive upgrade we will be rebooting both the servers (but the cluster will be kept shutdown until all the changes have been done). What logs should I be checking after the reboot apart form dmesg?

Re: upgrade on a cluster

You should check the syslog and the gsp/mcp logs.

But it shouldn't give any troubles.

Re: upgrade on a cluster

Depends on what you're checking for. If you want to see your new devices, you need to run ioscan. If you want to see that everything started succesfully, check /etc/rc.log.

Re: upgrade on a cluster

Dear Ravinder,

1. Run #cmviewcl -v and ensure all nodes, packages and Network status is UP

2. examine /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log for any errors( from cmcld, cmlvmd or so cluster services).

Check if all packages are UP and RUNNING

Re: upgrade on a cluster

Ravi,

As other said check the rc.log.

Check for new device file creation under /dev.

Check IOSCAN -fC, you chould get it in Claimbed.

Also, check the /var/adm/syslog

Again, check your cluster startup log, normally used /var//pkg.log, while starting the cluster, do a tail -f

Thats it then

Re: upgrade on a cluster

If you are "changing" disks - IE - your device files may change, you will need to regen your cluster - as the cluster lock disk will surely be different....
