Upgrade to Apache from Netscape on multiple systems-- worth it?
Hi-
I have multiple HP-UX systems on 10.01 (yes, this is not a typo), 10.20, 11.0. Netscape is configured on all and is running stable with all my applications. Aside from out-dated Netscape support from HP (which I've rarely needed), I need business and cost comparisons to present as to why I may need to invest time in the installation and configuration of Apache for these systems. My first red flag is that I am not sure Apache will run on HP-UX o/s 10.01--references all point to 10.20 and up. Second, I know Apache is bundled with 11i, but is it available without cost for previous o/s's? And, what advantages does it provide me? I'm not looking at using ssl certificates in the future, nor making any major changes within applications, so looking for reasons. Can anyone help? Thanks, Terri Christensen.

Re: Upgrade to Apache from Netscape on multiple systems-- worth it?
Hi Terri,
Are you just uses natescape browser?
In that case I don't know how apache will help.
Apache is web server it is better and faster web server as per my experience.
It works with 10.20 and 11. I don't know about 10.10.
If you just uses browser on all hp system then you can use netscape 4.7 it is free.

Re: Upgrade to Apache from Netscape on multiple systems-- worth it?
I don't know that I can answer your other questions, but I can answer about apache availability for 10.X and 11.X. Yes it is FREEly available for those OSs. I did a bit of searching and though I didn't find precompiled binaries for 10.01, they are readily available for 10.20 and 11.0. You could always download the source and compile it yourself for 10.01.
