Upgrading sendmail from 8.11.1 to 8.13.3 on an Itanium server
I have 2 questions.
I've upgraded sendmail from 8.11.1 to 8.13.3 on an Itanium server running version B.11.23 U ia64, using sendmail-8.13_1123.depot.
After installing this software and setting up the sendmail.cf and the submit file, I run the gen_cf program and selct option #9 (Create User and Queue for MSP).
After it creates this user and the Client Queue, it gives the below error message:
ERROR: Could not select the software "SMAIL-UPGRADE.INETSVCS-SMAIL".
This software does not exist in the target. You must specify either the correct target, or the correct software selections. swmodify failed for /usr/contrib/sendmail/usr/sbin/sendmail.
QUESTION 1: WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
I did not have this trouble on the PA-RISC server upgrading it's version of sendmail 8.13.3.
Also, in the mail log file, I keep seeing:
" getipnodebyaddr(IPv6:::1) failed: 1"
We are not running IPv6:::1, but IPv4:::1.
QUESTION 2: IS THERE ANYWAY TO SUPPRESS THESE MESSAGES FROM COMING OUT IN OUR MAIL LOG FILE?

Hello,
First question, have you downloaded Sendmail 8.13.3 from http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=SMAIL813

Re: Upgrading sendmail from 8.11.1 to 8.13.3 on an Itanium server
Arunvijai, the other day I tried installing this version on top of what I had, and it would not install. It said a later version of sendmail was already installed.
When I do a swlist -l product Sendmail-Upgrade, I get the correct output:
# Sendmail-Upgrade B.11.23.1.002 Sendmail-8.13.3/Identd special release upgrade
Sendmail-Upgrade.SMAIL-UPGRADE B.11.23.1.002 sendmail(1m) 813 special release upgrade
Sendmail-Upgrade.SMAIL-IDENT B.11.23.1.002 identd(1m) User Identification protocol
When I do a swlist -l product Sendmail-Upgrade, I get the correct output:

Sendmail-Upgrade.SMAIL-UPGRADE B.11.23.1.002 sendmail(1m) 813 special release upgrade
Sendmail-Upgrade.SMAIL-IDENT B.11.23.1.002 identd(1m) User Identification protocol

Re: Upgrading sendmail from 8.11.1 to 8.13.3 on an Itanium server
An HP tech just got back with me and said that this is a known bug and HP is working on it. Same with question #2.
