Upgrade all vpars except the primary vpar to A.03.05 (including reboot)
Shutdown all vpars and reboot primary vpar into vmunix (non-partition mode)
Upgrade vpars to A.03.05 in primary vpar and reboot into partition mode.
Is this right? Cheers, Ian Dennison

SolutionI wish I could up load the pdf, but the size limits only allow this unformatted text doc. I think you want page 98 and beyond.
I've upgraded superdomes, the procedure isn't like yours. You upgrade the npar, then the primary vpar.
Anyway, you have a rp7400 and I know there are footnotes citing differences.
Try this link as well. I think its the same doc but its HP-UX version specific as well and this is 11.11.

One final note: You should have all your firmware upgraded first and this is a CE only job for the superdome. I don't know about the rp7420. I just know there's a lot to upgrade, including HBA's, which are a pain and many times not roll backable.

Re: Upgrading to vpars A.03.05 on an RP7420
there is a chapter
"Updating vPars A.03.xx to vPars A.03.05"
in the manual.
Important:
"you must install iCAP version 8.03 (B.11.11.08.03.00) on eachHP-UX 11i v1 virtual partition before
updating to vPars A.03.05."
After doing this, set the boot behavior to "manual" for each vPar, update all the vPars except the first, boot into nPars mode, update vPars here and boot back into vPars mode.
See the manual for step-by-step instructions.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
