Upgrate OS from 11.0 to 11i

Hi,

I plan upgade os from 11.0 to 11i. what is the best way to do ? Is any recommend patch need to install after upgrade ???

Hi,

I've not done this upgrade, but I would always
recommend doing a cold install wherever possible as opposed to an upgrade. Just remember that doing an upgrade brings with you all remnants of the previous OS and problems that maybe on your system, this is especially true when it comes to security related matters.

One of the items I rememeber is that your
/ filesystem and /stand need to be larger.

There are many posts in the forums about this subject. The later support plus bundles are usually the place to start as far as the patching is concerned.

Check the doc on 11i install, it also covers the option of upgrading from 11.0 to 11i. Click on "Migrating to HPUX 11i", I tend to agree with Michael a fresh install is a better option here, especially true if you're moving from 10.20, but since you're moving from 11.0, the upgrade path is simpler.
After that get all your patch bundles from ..

Click on individidual patch bundles at the right side of the page. However you should be getting the same set of bundles in your OS CDs.

I have just finished one upgrade from hpux11 to 11i.
I did a cold install.
you can check following things

1.check for server supportability
2.Check if PCI A3740A and replaced with A5158A Tachyon adapter and ensure that PHSS_23626 is installed before A5158a is installed.

3.Check Firmware revision
minimum firmware version for
N-class 41.02
L-class 40.28
4.File system size 128 Mb minimum.
/ 30 MB free
/usr 80-654 mb free
/stand 30mb free
/var 50mb free
/opt 30-580mb free
4Gb root disk
6.need to install "update-ux"if intend to upgrade from 11.00
7.Mirror/UX is included in hpux enterprose/Mission critical OE.One need to reinstall the patch PHKL_23333 to enable the Mirror?UX functionality
