ups_mond: Normal operation message

How can I avoid the message "ups_mond:AC
Power to all recognized, system
critical UPSs OK! System wil not
shutdown" appears on console about each
second?
I think the configuration on my machine
HP 9000 D250/821 with HP-UX 11.0 is OK.
The ups_mond demon started without warnings
using /etc/ups_conf.
I executed with successful the load
testing procedure on power trust system.
Perhaps, do I need a patch?
Thanks in advance for all advice.

Hi,
comment the line upstty: in /etc/ups_conf and reboot. This may solve your problem

Re: ups_mond: Normal operation message

Hi,
upstty specifies the port where your ups is connected to.
If you comment this line you will get rid of the annoying message, BUT you server will also no longer shutdown if there's a power failure.
BTW the specified message is unknown to me. I only recall messages like 'Power down. Server will reboot if power does not come back', 'Power input reinstated, shutdown cancelled'. Maybe you indeed need a patch, or maybe your UPS is defective.

Thierry.

Re: ups_mond: Normal operation message

The message points usually to very short powerfail. If it appears that often there may be an other process on the same port as the upsmond. May first guess is, that you run a getty on the UPS port (you may want to check the /etc/inittab for that)
There is no good troubleshooting with bad data

Re: ups_mond: Normal operation message

Hi! I had a similar problem with HP-UX 11.0 running on N4000 Server using PowerthrustII. We uninstalled the UPS manager that came with the UPS and configured SAM instead. Make sure that only the ups_mond is the only daemon running for your ups. I hope this will help.
