urgent help with libc.1

I would appreciate it very much if someone there help asap:

I have "/usr/lib/dld.sl: Call to mmap() failed - TEXT /usr/lib/libc.1
/usr/lib/dld.sl: Permission denied
Abort(coredump)" message on console and telnet terminal. I can't change back to 555 mode.

Please help with how to do.

Console can not login.

How to shutdown to 1?

Re: urgent help with libc.1

Went out to WWW and found this....

"..You took away the permission to read the library, so no shared program (as chmod is) will work.
You need to boot from support-cd or connect the filesystem to another system and restore the permissions (chmod 555)...."

Hope this helps,

Re: urgent help with libc.1

Hi Steven,

At this point, all you can do is power off and reboot single-user. Then /sbin/mount /usr;
/sbin/chmod 555 libc.1; /sbin/umount /usr

Good luck, Clay
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: urgent help with libc.1

I believe your wanting to boot up using that CD...so first insert your CD in the server.
shutdown -ry 0 (for immediate reboot !)
At console prompt for interrupt HIT ANY KEY !!

boot_adm>search to find the hardware path of CD
boot_adm> bo
Interact w/isl> yes
ISL> hpux -is
.....you are now in single user mode with only / root mounted. To mount other filesystem you must use mount command.

Hope this helps,

Re: urgent help with libc.1

I had vxfs: mesg 016:vx_ilisterr -/ files system error reading inode 672

rm core and reboot now.

what is it?

Re: urgent help with libc.1

The bad inode means that there is an error on the disk. The best bet is to reboot, go into single user mode, and run fsck. Hopefully, this will clear it up. If it doesn't, the disk may be bad. Hope this helps.
