Re: usb disk

Your English is good enough.

If the drive is not certified that it will work with HP-UX, you are wasting your time.

What you need to do is hook up the drive.

run ioscan.

then ioscan -fnC disk

See if its listed.

An ioscan before you start on paper is a good idea for comparison.

If the drive is supported, it should be that easy.

You'll need to run pvcreate on the drive after its claimed.

pvcreate -f /dev/rdsk/c#t#d# from the second or third ioscan

vgextend /dev/vg01 /dev/rdsk/c#t#d#

Now its available for lvm use.

Good Luck,

Re: usb disk

As far as I know, USB disks simply will not work. USB for HP-UX was designed for keyboards and pointing devices like a mouse. But a disk is extremely complicated, requiring a mass storage driver and code to bridge low level filesystem code into a USB disk driver. The same would be true for USB memory sticks. And if the goal is to exchange data between a PC and HP-UX, the filesystems are completely incompatible.
