Symptoms:

.I can telnet to L2000 on their computer using my account
.Both accounts have same permissions and .profile information

Related info

Tried following:

Re: User Account Error

Is Secure Net Term connecting through ssh ? If yes what type of authentication is used ? authoirzed keys or password check ?

Is the system trusted ?

What special characters does the account has ? and where are they ? In the username or in the directories ?

what is the error message user is getting when he/she tries to login ?

Re: User Account Error

Gentlemen,

Sorry for the delay I never received any e-mails when you responded even though I checked the box.

Anyway the AKL2000 is not trusted. We narrowed the problem down to the following.

. special characters @ and # can't be used

Doug

Re: User Account Error

Doug,

Yeah, that would make sense. From the man page for "passwd":

WARNINGS
Avoid password characters which have special meaning to the tty driver, such as # (erase) and @ (kill). You may not be able to login with these characters.
