usermod.sam
Tried to user usermod.sam to set a user password, like Alan D. Johnson intructed, but it doens not work for me.
Who cab help?
# /usr/sam/lbin/usermod.sam -w "/R/4B5b2i6AEQ" user
Unrecognized Option 'w'
Usage: usermod.sam [-p [-u [-o]] [-g [-G [, [-d [-m]] [-s ] [-c &#93; &#91;-f <inactive>&#93; &#91;-e <expire>&#93; &#91;-l <new logname>&#93; <login><BR /><BR /># uname -a<BR />HP-UX host B.11.00 U 9000/800 870699492 unlimited-user license<BR /><BR />

Looks like you should be using -p instead of -w.
To change a user password you should be doing (as root or logged in as user);
passwd

Hi,
There is no -w option.
Change the account record by using
# passwd username
# passwd -f username
This will force the user to change
the password the first time they attempt
to login.
