Using EFI filesystem

Hi

There is some data common to all the vpars in an npar. Each of the vpars builds that data. Can one of the vpar create and store the data into a file in EFI partition and all other vpars copy that file to the respective locations in the vpar. Is it good to use EFI partition ? Are there any restrctions ?

I don't think you have a choice about using EFI. I have yet to run into anybody that ran out of space on EFI, at least in the forums.

Hi,

each vPar owns its own disk with a unique EFI partition. A vPar instance cannot access the disk (or the EFI partition) of another vPar instance.
Why not using other methods like nfs or cp/scp ...

Yes, if you create a NFS share for example.

But nfs shares can be disabled.


vpmon resides on the EFI partition. vpmon brings up all other vpars. Can the other vpar access the vpmon's EFI partition.

No.

Each partition owns at least 1 boot disk.
Each boot disk has a EFI area (including a vpmon).
Each vPar can only access its own EFI partition.

Each vPar sends and receives information to the active vpmon - the information will be "mirrored" to each vp database.

So your plan is not possible.

Hi siddharth,
In vpar, users on one partition canot access files or Fs on another partition except NFS...as users on one partition does not imply his presence on another partition..thus ensuring security in vpar.
So solution to your problem lies in above statement i.e NFS.
