Using KDE As An Alternate Desktop for HP-UX
Hi there --
Is there a way for me to use the KDE desktop as opposed to the CDE desktop for a workstation running HP-UX 10.20 or 11.00? Specifically, is it possible for me to use the Konstruct script available from the kde.org website to automate the installation process? Thanks.

Re: Using KDE As An Alternate Desktop for HP-UX
Answer: probably not.
Yes you can install and set up and use a different desktop than cde. I've done it with a gnome port that HP transformed into a depot installation.
You will have to compile the software and deal with any errors at compile time for anything close to modern.
Then you may have to modify the Konstruct script or look at it and do what it does manually by editing configuration files.
Have at it though, sounds like fun.

Re: Using KDE As An Alternate Desktop for HP-UX
Dear Andrew,
I've been using Gnome 1.4 (from the hp.com) on HP-UX 11.11 for 1 1/2 years now, it's working great for me.
Kind regards, Christian
