Using root id to login

Hi,

I wonder which file i need set so that enable using root id to login by telnet.

I have try to create file "shells" but i still not able to do so.

Please guide.

Hi Patricia,

If you want to allow root to login from the network, make sure you don't have one line with "console" in file /etc/securetty, as this would restrict root login to the console.
You may either delete that line or rename the file to remove that restriction.

Make sure telnet login isn't denied in file /var/adm/inetd.sec

Have a look at inetd.sec(4) manpage for details about security.
