Using SAM to monitor process wait state

What is the "Vir Faults" field in the process resource page of SAM?

This page is displayed when you double click on a process form the "Process List" report.

Re: Using SAM to monitor process wait state

Randy,

Vfault -> virtual fault
is the mechanism that causes
paging. Paging is the way
memory is managed by the
processes. Accessing an
unmapped valid page causes
a resolvable vfault.

This is *not* an error,but
a mechanism of memory management. If there are
too many vfaults, it could
probably mean you have a high
load on memory.

Another thing, you don''t
need SAM to monitor process.
SAM acutally calls GPM/glance.
So, it is better to run
glance or GPM directly.
There is a help (?) key on
the GPM which can be used
to look up the meaning of
any parameter on the gpm screen.

I concur with RajMan, use glance. If you don't have it installed, you can install a trial version. It's not a lot to purchase.
