Using +@xxx::0:0::: with NIS in passwd file
We have been using an NIS entry in the password files to restrict the users allowed to access the system.
Instead of the usual +::0:0::: entry to allow any NIS user to access the machine, we have, for example, +@hp_n150::0:0::: to allow only users in the netgroup file hp_n150 group from accessing the machine.
This worked fine with 10.20, but now doesn???t with 11.00. NIS+ isn't turned on, does anyone have any ideas?

Sorry, 'from accessing the machine' should be 'to access the machine'

Re: Using +@xxx::0:0::: with NIS in passwd file
The first thing that I would do is a ypcat netgroup from one the the 11.0 NIS clients having trouble. The following patches might also be useful: PHCO_25883, PHCO_23189, & PHNE_26387.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Using +@xxx::0:0::: with NIS in passwd file
Thanks Clay.
A ypcat -k netgroup give the same result on 10.20 or 11.00.
Only one of the patches is on the systems, but I can't test at the moment, as one of the other patches requires a reboot.
I will let you know what happens.
