VA7100 Firmware Upgrade

I am looking for advice on patching an HP9000 'L' Class server running HPUX 11.11 with a VA7100 Surestore Virtual Array. The reason for this is to enable a Firmware upgrade on our VA7100.

I am just about to patch the server to the HPUX 11i General release Patch Bundle April 2003 and then look at specific patch/dependencies for command view 1.06, which I believe are required.

Is this the correct order of precedence, and are there any specific dependencies or known problems to watch out for?

We went to HP18 on our VA7100/VA7400's in January. The order you state is correct. Before the HP personnel came on site to upgrade the firmware, I had.

1. Installed CommandView required patches & dependencies.
2. Upgraded to CommandView 1.06.

Other patches are not necessary.

1.Upgrade the "recommended" pathces required for Commandview latest version.
2. Install General "recommended Patches" for your OS.
3. Then Call HP to upgrade Firmware.

Instead of latest general patches it's good to have recommended patches installed on the server ....always!.
